12 Freeware Tools That Fix DVD CD Drive Problems

Below are the 12 items of registry keywords, VBS scripts, and freeware that can be put into use to deal with several reasons of DVD CD malfunction. If the issue wasn't solved right away after using the tools below, try to uninstall the DVD CD driver, start the Device Manager and scan for fresh new computer hardware.

Option #1
Mr. Fixit

Mr. Fixit - a software which is intended to repair CD/DVD problems.  I encountered "error 19" problems and with Mr. Fixit asoftware, Mats_Run.dvd.exe did not appear to resolve the problem. On the other hand, I don't apply my personal tips to un-install the disc drive subsequently and also rescan my Device Manager to correct my hardware. At this time, you can find this little Fixit application here and it is the best place to start: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/cd_dvd_drive_problems/

I'm able to resolve my problem with CDGONE patch (see item #3), and then proceeding to Device Manager by placing "devmgmt.msc" in Search|on top of the Start Icon of my Windows 7. While on the Device Manager I go to my DVD CD device-player -> mouse right click -> then select uninstall -> go to the action menu -> left click on rescan for adjustments and voila, back in the market.

Option #3

CDGONE - Disc drives may usually not show on Windows Explorer.  In some cases this happens when a 3rd party CD burning bundle like iTunes and registry to drive and use the application are not removed correctly. Configuring this typical patch plus restarting will often retrieve the lost drives. Any type of third party playing/viewing or burning media will need to be reinstalled. This software will function by removing of the lower and upper filter systems at typical registry settings. Right after using, go to Device Manager by placing "devmgmt.msc" in the "Run" box in Windows XP or search in Vista.  Go to Device Manager -> choose your DVD/ CD burner or player-> right mouse click -> select "Uninstall" -> In the "Action" menu -> simply click Scan for changes in hardware.  Observe if this step fixes the problem.  Get CD Gone patch here http://aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip

You can find Nero at: http://www.nero.com/enu/tools-utilities.html. Follow the instructional guide on option 3.
